About the Laptop Millionaire
Hello, well this is me, Lyz Cordon and I really have no idea what to write here that might interest you so I’ll keep it brief. First of all I’m not a millionaire, well not yet at least but I’m really looking forward to updating that statement. But that’s the whole point of writing this blog.
Laptop Millionaire is an experiment to see if a complete novice blogger can make money blogging. And the blog seemed like the perfect place to chart my journey from beginner blogger to laptop millionaire so that every time I get asked ‘how do I build a blog‘ or ‘how can I make money from blogging‘ I have somewhere to refer people to. I’m not sure it’ll work as I’m being completely open about the fact that I’m trying to make money from this blog and to do that it’s necessary to have a degree of advertising – you may not mind this or you might hate it.
I’ve chosen to use affiliate schemes exclusively and have placed banner ads on each page (you can see them in the right hand sidebars) and also some relevant text links and banners within individual posts. Not all links on this site are affiliate links but where they are, they link to products and services that I’ve found useful and I genuinely believe will assist you in setting up your blog. Just so you know what’s what here’s a list of the schemes of which I’m an affiliate member.
- I use Amazon Affiliate links on my site to recommend useful books that I’ve read/am reading (never books I haven’t).
- My blog uses the Thesis theme by Chris Pearson’s DIY Themes and I’m also an affiliate.
- I’m an affiliate for Super Green Hosting because I think their offering is great for first time bloggers and anything we can do to be more ‘green’ does it for me.
- I have used wordpress themes from Elegant Themes – these are beautifully crafted, quality wordpress themes and I am an affiliate.
- I am an affiliate of Woo Themes – the home of many well crafted premium wordpress themes.
- I’m an affiliate of StudioPress wordpress themes who provide a great hand-holding service for beginner bloggers.
- I am an affiliate for Rob Benwell’s Blogging to the Bank 3.0. This is the blueprint I’m using to run this blogging experiment.
- I sometimes put affiliate links within my posts, these are placed where I think the product or service will be of value to you and is directly related to the blog post topic.
- I own Diligent Design Ltd a UK based website design company – I want to be clear though that I’m busy enough in my web design business and this is most definitely not a forum being used to taut for work.
That’s not actually very brief is it… hope you’re still awake. If you are and you want to get started what better place to begin than by reading How to Build A Blog; 5 simple steps to start a blog
