Think about when you are reading an advert in your local paper – you are invariably attracted to those which offer some relevance to you.
Now this could be because you are looking to make a purchase, know someone looking to make a purchase of that particular product or you simply have an interest in the subject matter.
If you are hoping to make money from blogging, your posts should always be targeted and aimed at the needs and wants of your readers.
One of the most basic sales techniques adopted by all competent sales people is to “identify a need” and there are of course, numerous ways to achieve this, particularly in a face to face direct sales environment.
Yet when you are trying to achieve this without the benefit of speaking to the individual personally, your words must do the work for you.
Your objective, when looking to generate income from a blog, is to change the “reader” into a “customer.”
Customer service and feeling valued are two of the most highly rated reasons for a person or business to make a purchase and this is usually achieved by offering realizable, tangible benefits that they will accept without question.
One of the most effective marketing methods to do this is to draw your reader in by personalising your blog using words such as “you” and “because“, or variations thereof.
It’s ok for you to use other forms of personalisation such as “I” or “me” but always ensure “you” and “because” is used more often because your customer may otherwise think that you are too “me, me, me” and clearly in this for yourself.
Remember, fail to offer your readers tangible benefits and you will fail to realise any tangible benefit in the form of income.
