Ways to monetize your blog and generate income

August 3, 2009

Fortunes are being made and spent, pretty much every day in online transactions.

In difficult economic times such as those being experienced across the globe at the moment, more and more people are looking for ways to improve or sustain their standard of living, and many of these people are looking towards affiliate marketing to supplement income.

If you are one of these people, you would undoubtedly like to know the quickest and easiest way to get your hands on some of that revenue whizzing around on internet transactions.

If you are reading this article, you are using one of the most effective tools in your arsenal to supplement your income, namely your PC or Laptop.

The most common method of earning commission through affiliate marketing is by placing banner ads or products for related items or services on your blog. In return for visitors to your site clicking on the advertisement and being routed to the advertiser’s sales pages, if the visitor then makes a subsequent purchase or completes a specific action, you will be paid a commission.  If you use the likes of AdSense, you will even be paid simply for the click and sending the traffic through to the advertiser’s site.

Another income generator that is perhaps exploited to a lesser degree but certainly worth considering is email marketing.  The success of an email marketing campaign will however very much depend on the popularity of your blog, and draw on the trust of your readers.

Simply produce a brief introductory message, including a link to the embedded affiliate and email your message out to your readers. Remember to include a brief explanation why you are recommending this particular product or service to them.

As you are drawing on their trust in you, be selective as to the products or services you elect to promote.  After all, you do not want to alienate your loyal blog readers!
